Why did you join Refugees Forward?

There are many reasons:

Get advice, guidance and necessary help to build my business, and see the experiences of others.
Expand my network and meet new people in the business, and get a potential customers.
To integrate myself, and help others especially the creative artists such as painters, sculptors and designers.
The big opportunity to find investors in my project.”

Could you tell us a bit about your background and what project you are going to be working on?

I left Syria because of the war. But despite what I lost, I still have something very valuable – my talent as a painter, my design skills, and my experience in management and business. I started my career as an interior designer and graphic designer, until I became the director of drawing and designing department of a company. In the past five years, I have become one of the company’s executives and have taken on a lot of responsibilities, while continuing my work as professional designer.
I have worked on many concepts and identities for various events, companies, shops, hotels, restaurants and cafes in Middle east, Turkey, Arabian Gulf such as Dubai, North Africa and Russia.

I’m passionate about modern art in all its kind, and by virtue of my extensive relations in this field, I think I hold many ingredients for the success of the project I want to start with this program – a permanent art gallery, where I can sell unique modern artwork and creative designs. The idea is to take advantage of my long experience in the business world, along with my art and design skills. I will use my extensive network of relationship, and promote sustainable brands images as well. It is an environment where artists experiment with new ideas and new ways of working. We offer critical and practical support to produce, present and contextualize the work. The main objective is to manage the dialogue between the gallery, the artists and the buyers.

What would you like to learn over the course of the program?

The most important operational stages of starting a business.

Where do you see yourself in 2 years?

In two years I’ll be participating in the Los Angeles Art Fair representing my Gallery in Amsterdam.
